Set in pre-independent India where superstitions and fear for the unknown had a coercive influence on the collective psyche, her relatives refuse to believe that she is alive and are terrified upon seeing her! Kadambani tries in vain to prove that she is indeed alive; but she is beseeched by her relatives to leave them for good. And in a chilling climax she gives up her life to prove to all that she was indeed alive! |
